Learning English with Music and Song

Yesterday, It was awesome meeting. Meeting was opened by Ms Vina by saying Bisamillah. I'm very pleasure heard wishes that mentioned by Ms. Vina. Ms.Ms. Poppy was the moderator for the meeting yesterday and she introduced Mr. Urip. For additional introduction Mr. Urip speak fluently to introduce himself. He is a teacher in elementary school, until senior high school. He has been taught more than fifteen years.Mr. Urip explained that sometime people think speaking English is hard. When someone try to speak, she/he feel worried if they make mistake in pronouncing the words. Actually making mistake in speaking or learning is the process to get the correct one. Therefore, Mr. Urip suggested to the audiences to be brave to speak up in this program English for teacher. The audiences were singing together in opening his presentation.
In this session, Mr Urip divide his presentation in four parts.
- Ice-breaking
- Brainstorming
- Presentation
- Assessment
Before giving Ice-breaking, Mr Urip gave some questions like " Do you like singing?". Have you sing together with your students in the classroom?.
Then, the audiences sang together the title of the song is Heal the World .
After singing a English song, we learned form of words like verb, adjective, comparative etc, from the song lyric. According to Mr. Urip, we must prepare the song that related to the material in the class. Determine what material will you teach in the class. For example, if you want to teach greeting you can use a song. " How are you?"
So, we must following these pointers for teaching English through song.
- Planning for the use of songs in class.
- Carefully examine what it is you want your class to learn in the lesson.
- Think about the language level of your class.
- How old are your learners?
- Think about the language level of your class.
- What kind of access do you have to the song.
Actually, for the assignment were very fantastic. unfortunately I just watched in you tube channel, I couldn't participate because I should finished my school job. Thank you so much Mr. Urip and audiences in this program English for teacher.
